About Me:
Grew up in Berkeley, dad taught painting at SFAI and had a studio in The Monkey Block until he found a studio closer to home. After he went to New York in 1957 I explored North Beach on my own on weekends starting when I was about eleven or twelve, taking the bus to the city and walking everywhere. I spent a lot of time at City Lights and wandering Grant Ave from Bush to Filbert street and beyond looking for what I missed.
As an adult, artist and music connoisseur I co founded and developed The Music of America, a six part television series on the history or American folk music exploring how black and white music came to blend over the centuries. I interviewed almost two hundred people (interviews now in Library of Congress)and got a contract with WETA, PBS television station in Washington DC. The project did not air due to not getting a grant from The National Endowment for the Humanities and was suspended in 2008. During the five years we worked on it we raised a quarter of a million dollars. This project should still be made. Everyone I ever talk to about it thinks it's a wonderful idea but with out the do-re-mi nothing happens. I'm still open.
