XXVII Narcao Blues festival is going on in July 2017, from 19th to 22nd at Narcao, Sulcis. There will be on stage: Us artists Charlie Musselwhite, Eric Sardinas and Otis Taylor, Emmanuel Pi Djob from Camerun, the italians T-Roosters and Fabio Treves and sardinian artists Francesco Piu and Don Leone.

Narcao Blues is the first and longest-living blues festival in Sardinia and one of the most appreciated in the national music scene. This year It’s going to blow its twenty- seven candles out and it will go on stage from July the 19th to the 22th. Narcao (about sixty kilometers far from Cagliari) will host a rich lineup of international artists and some of the most interesting Italian ones with the usual care to the island.
The festival is member of the Italian Blues Union, the association that brings together national blues main actors, including festivals, associations, artists; it‘s part of the European Blues Union too, where Gianni Melis, Narcao Blues‘ artistic directos, is Italy’s representative.
There have been many artists arrived in the northest part of Sulcis to spread the “African American matrix” over the years: for example Michael Coleman, Scott Henderson, Canned Heat, Mick Taylor, Robben Ford, John Mayall, The Neville Brothers, Peter Green, Larry Carlton, Lucky Peterson. And to James Cotton, the great American harmonicist dead last March, is dedicated this edition of Narcao Blues. A really interesting 4 days long festival is going to be this 27th edition. The aim is to propose the public some of the most important international bluesmen, top artists in the national scene, talented sardinian artists.

The Americans Charlie Musselwhite, Eric Sardinas and Otis Taylor, the Italians Fabio Treves and T-Roosters, the Sardinian Francesco Piu and the duo Don Leone will be on the stage, located in Europa Square. The fourth day Emmanuel Pi Djob, leading his Afro Soul Gang, will end Narcao Blues on a high note. The Festival will take place in the historical venue of Piazza Europa in the deep heart of Sulcis, near the mining site of Rosas – recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage Centre and crucial part of the majestic “Historical and Enviromental Geo Park of Sardinia” – and the wonderful shores of the south western coast. There will also be an after party each night at the Bacca Marronis Park, in Perdaxius County, with the Superdownhome duo, Moses Concas, and the Bad Blues Quartet. Waiting for the festival – South in Blues is the natural prologue of Narcao Blues and will going on in July, from 7th to 9th and from 14th to16th: 6 appointments including the US harper Andy J. Forest and Bayou Moonshiners, the italian band winner of the last Italian Blues Challenge. Narcao Blues is organized by the Cultural Association Progetto Evoluzione with the contribution of the Education, Sports and Entertainment Association and the Tourism Office of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, the Foundation of Sardinia and with the sponsorship of the Municipality of Narcao.
