ALBERT COLLINS (STYLE & GEAR)

O Albert Collins γεννήθηκε στη Leona του Τexas τη 1 Οκτωβρίου του 1932 και πέθανε το 1993 από καρκίνο.Ξεκίνησε τη δισκογραφική του καριέρα το 1960 στο Houston του Texas αλλά η φήμη του τον μετέφερε και στην υπόλοιπη Αμερική ,στην Ιαπωνία ,Ευρώπη και Αυστραλία.

Ο Collins είχε ένα ιδιαίτερο στυλ παιξίματος που το καθιέρωσε στα blues.Ηταν κουρδισμένος συνήθως σεFm ανοιχτή (F-C-F-Ab-C-F) και χρησιμοποιούσε καποτάστο στο 5^ο,7^ο,και 9^ο τάστο.

Ο εξοπλισμός που χρησιμοποιούσε ήταν κιθάρες Fender telecaster στις οποίες είχε αντικαταστήσει τον μπροστινό μαγνήτη με ένα Gibson PAF.O ενισχυτής του ήταν ένας
100 w Fender Quad reverb combo.Eπίσεις δεν χρησιμοποιούσε
πένα αλλά τα δάχτυλά του .Όλα αυτά αλλά και εξαιρετική του δεξιοτεχνία είχαν
αυτό το αποτέλεσμα που ακούμε όλοι σήμερα.

Ο Collins συνεργάστηκε και έκανε περιοδείες με όλα τα ιερά τέρατα του Blues και όχι μόνο.Mερικοί από τους κιθαρίστες που επηρεάστηκαν από τον Collins είναι οι: Coco Montoya,SRV,Robert Cray,Frank Zappa,John Mayer,Gary Moore.
