Girl George has been an Icon of the Music scene since the early 60's. Long before anyone had ever heard the word Hippie. Girl George born in San Francisco Bay Area. On her own from the age of 16 Working in bars with fake ID's…Singing in Jam Sessions. Picking up Guitar at 21 years old ... Running clubs, booking acts, running open mic's....Playing the Fillmore and The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. She was in Nashville from 1971-1973 where Girl George performed with The Arizona Star. Together they toured with Dr. Hook and The Medicine Show, Chuck Berry and Stevie Wonder... When the duo broke up Girl George went West... She produced and hosted her on Variety Show on TV in San Francisco live from The Mabuhay Gardens and The Coffee Gallery.

She moved to Los Angeles in 1983... Where performed at Al's Bar, Cathay De Grande, The Central, The Roxy, The Troubadour and The Palomino. She produced the Love- In at Griffith Park for ten years... Later, she moved back to the Bay Area and hosted a weekly blog Talk Radio Show with the Gypsy Poet... currently doing weekly interviews on "Girl George & the Dragons Radio Show" (Sundays)

How do you describe and what characterize Girl George’s life and music philosophy?

Well I Love Music...I Love Being on Stage...

& Dragging Everybody Up on Stage With Me...

I Love Everybody Singing along ...Laughing & Dancing...

I am not Happy unless Everybody Else is having fun too...

What have you learned about yourself from the underground and Rock n’ Roll life and culture?

What Go's Around...Come's Around...

If you Wait Long Enough it will Come Around again...

Don't Fight with Crazy People... Just step out of their way

 & they will be fighting with themself.

Which is the most interesting period in your life? Which was the best and worst moment of your career?

Right Now...It’s Always Right now...I always Deal With What I'm Doing right Now...

Why did you think that the Underground culture continues to generate such a devoted following?

The Underground...That’s where Art...Creativity...Awareness...Live...

Once you make a start to sale it on the Market...You Lose it...

Since 60s – what has changed towards the best – for our civilization and culture and what has gone wrong?

Women...People of Color...Gays...

awareness of the Envirment...have made Big Strides...

The Rich as always are way to Greedy.

Which meetings have been the most important experiences for you?

Kris Kristofferson Coming to see my band Play at the Coffee gallery S.F. in 1970

Changed my life...we ended up going to Nashville...& boy was that a Trip...

Shel Silverstein Saw us play at the Red Dog Saloon in Nashville 1973...

He Hooked us up with his Producer Ron Haffkine...

& He put us out on Tour with Dr. Hook (that he also produced)

We played on the same bill with Chuck Berry & Stevie Wonder... (Heros of my)

& a Dream come true...

Meeting Chrissie Hynde in London & buying a Punk outfit From Her at a store (SEX) she worked at...

Which memories make you smile?

The Haight in the 60's...People were very Friendly... Everybody Smiling...

George Hunter & The S.F. Charlatans... A lot of Magic....

What do you miss most nowadays from the past?

Playing Guitar...I just Sing Now...

What is the best advice ever given you?

When I first started playing guitar in 1966…playing at the coffee Houses...

I asked one of my actor friends from the S.F. Committee...

How to Reach the Audience??

He said...Don't Act out the words to your song...Live them....

It’s a Zen thing...Being there...being part of it..Believing it...

They also turned me on to a book

What advice would you give to new generation?

How can the arts crush the shackles of the human mind?

By Show people who they really are...Holding Up a Mirror to them..

What was the relation between music and activism?

They are the Same thing.

What are the lines that connect the legacy of Beats with Hippies and continue to Punks and further?

The Ideas...The Music...The Arts...I'm 69 yrs old.

Now and Have been there in the trenches with them All...

What does to be a female artist in a “Man World” as James Brown says? What is the status of women in Rock?

I have always been one of a few Women in a Man’s World...

When I think back to all the Music scenes I have been a part of around the world...

I'm amazed by how Few women...were there...

I've noticed lately there are More women...in the Music world...

What has made you laugh lately and what touched (emotionally) you from the world and music circuits?

Lady Gaga...She Kicks ass...

If you could change one thing in the music and world; and it would become a reality, what would that be?

It is already Happening Now...The Big Record Co...are dying...

You can put your own music out yourself on youtube...

& the whole world can hear it...

Let’s take a trip with a time machine, so where and why would you really wanna go for a whole day..?

Back to the 60's in San Francisco...It really was fun...

How has the underground changed over the years? What has been the relationship between the arts?

Nothing is really new... They just put New Labels on it...

Art & Music & Poetry... Has Been Here Since the Begining of time...

Troubadour's... Gypsys... Bobbie Soxers, Bluegrass, Rhythm & Blues...

Rock & Roll...Greasers... Rockers... Hipsters... Beats... Beatniks...Hippies...

Nashville Outlaws... & Punks.

People that think outside the Box... Create..their own music... Their own Art... comic too...
