“I miss the soul and the diversity and the risk taking of the music I grew up on.So much of today's music is safe, bland cookie cutter pap. A lot of Rock music has become so homogenized. I also fear the consequences of AI.”

All of these 10 songs showcase Kevin's masterful songwriting across all the musical styles that have shaped his colorful career, including glam, punk, rock, blues, and even southern gospel. Kevin’s band Roxx Gang were one of America’s great bands and the first rock band signed to Virgin Records in America. Their debut record, the classic "Things You've Never Done Before", sold over 250,000 copies. In a way, they were the bridge between glam and grunge and The Mojo Gurus played a vital role in keeping rock-n-roll alive in "the Tens" working with legendary producers Jack Douglas (John Lennon, Aerosmith, New York Dolls) and Tommy Henricksen (Alice Cooper, Lou Reed, The Hollywood Vampires). With One Thing Left To Do, Steele brings his musical journey full circle with a truly remarkable record that you just have to hear.

Joining Kevin on this new record is guitar phenom / co producer Billy Summer (Florida, Luxury Mane, The New Brutarians) whose music has been heard on major TV shows and films such as Ted Lasso, The Affair, Harpoon, Life and Beth, Chicago Fire, Property Brothers and many others. The result is one hot slab of Rock 'n' Roll revelry covering several genres that showcase a track list of impressive playing and songwriting. The band is an allstar collection of Tampa Bay, Florida musicians playing at the top of their game. They formed an instant camaraderie and the good times had in the recording sessions shine across every track!

How has the Rock Counterculture influenced your views of the world? What moment changed your life the most?

I lost my mother to violence when I was eight years old. Music, 70s glam rock in particular, was a much needed diversion from the reality of my life. I would have been lost without it. Later it gave me a channel to vent my anger and frustrations. I can't remember a time when I wasn't obsessed with the music and the lifestyle of Rock 'n' Roll.

What keeps a musician passionate over the years? How does your hometown affect your music?

Oh. I don't know. I can tell you this. Rock 'n' Roll lit a fire in me when I was pretty young and that flame has never died. I've never had to try to stay passionate. It was my first real love and it continues to give me a reason for being today. I think coming from where I do in Florida hasn't been much of a blessing in terms of the business side of this game but it has removed me from some of the pitfalls and allowed me to have more of a sense of individuality.

What characterizes the music philosophy of “One Thing Left To Do”? Do you have any interesting stories about the making of the new album?

My philosophy since day one has always been quite simple. Have fun! I had more fun making this album than any other in my career. Billy Summer, who played all the guitar and co-produced the album, and I had such a great musical camaraderie that not a minute of making this record seemed like work. It turned out to be a very serendipitous undertaking. Some of my closest friends contributed to the music, artwork and photography that went into making this record. A real family affair.

What do you miss most nowadays from the music of the past? What are your hopes and fears for the future of?

I miss the soul and the diversity and the risk taking of the music I grew up on.So much of today's music is safe, bland cookie cutter pap. A lot of Rock music has become so homogenized. I also fear the consequences of AI.

What are some of the most important lessons you have learned from your experience in the music paths?

Do not compromise. You will always regret it in the end. Stay true to your vision and do not let anyone (record label people, producers, video directors) change or dilute the vision you have for your music and what you're trying to accomplish. That was one of the things that was so great about making a solo album. No compromises.

Are there any specific memories or highlights of your career that you would like to tell us about?!

Well, all the usual ones.Signing my first record deal, hearing one of my songs on the radio for the first time, traveling the country on my first tour. These were all dreams of teenage Kevin that came true. Not a lot of people get to live their dream. I consider myself very lucky in that respect.

What are you doing to keep your music relevant today, to develop it and present it to the new generation?

Nothing. I have a rather selfish attitude about making music. Maybe to my own detriment. I write songs to please myself and hopefully others will get on the train. I guarantee a wild ride. Tell your friends!

What is the role of music/musicians in today’s society? How do you want the music to affect people?

I can only speak for myself but I feel the role of musicians and popular music has been greatly diminished since it became so corporate. It's become just another product like Corn Flakes or Coca Cola. Thank God for independent labels and bands that still have the balls to buck the system. As for my own music I just hope that in some small way I can provide the escape that music gave me as a kid. I had a pretty rough childhood and Rock 'n' Roll was my salvation.
