"What I miss the most is real music record stores...real radio too. The whole industry today is pretty awful...everything is too overexposed and there is no myth or legend about bands anymore. Back in the day, the only way you could see the band was if they had a picture on the record or if you went to a show or saw them in a fan magazine or on a tv show like Ed Sullivan."

“I think my music has grown in instrumentation and substance. I don’t write any “filler” songs. Everything has a very specific theme, story, or emotion being represented. On this new album, I have been able to add a lot of colours with background vocalists, layered guitars, saxophones, keys and organ, and even an orchestra of strings!“

“The music-scene is changing all the time. Hypes stumble over new hypes. But bands like Bintang’s go always in a straight line, no matter what happens. Sometimes in- and sometimes out of fashion! Music must go directly into the heart of people, otherwise it’s useless.”

It brought more meaning to the lyrics than prior music like old R&R. It made people think about new ideas and new possibilities. It is true that, as a culture, we have gone back to old ways - mainly fueled by money and the need to feel safe but at least we know that there are other…

“Blues is at the heart of most of my original music and for me there needs to be an element of it in there for more to feel its authenticity. I don’t nessasary stick to rigid blues templates I like to throw a spanner in the works now and again. I like to challenge the rules.”

“I think music serves as a kind of social lubricant. It gives you a reason to interact with people in different places as you move through time and space. It’s opened countless doors and trails for me to follow.“
