Music is the way of the world. I don’t know many languages. Hell, I only know English, but I know if I can play some blues, I resonate with everyone around the world.”

Eddie 9V: Road Trip Soundtrack

Born Brooks Mason in June 1996, Eddie 9V was playing guitar by the age of six (“one of those with the speaker in it – the most bang for your buck,…

Q&A with Michigan-based veteran bassist David Givens, co-founder of Blues-Jazz-Rock band of Zephyr

"Classic Blues acknowledges the commonality of human experiences. It shows us that we exist in a reality where our souls respond in the same ways as other souls around us do when stimulated by the emotions in the music we experience together. I believe that in today’s fragmented societies which are under constant attack by forces committed to controlling them in their quest for power and money, music is a counter force that can fend off these attacks,…

Q&A with Florida guitarist Jimi Fiano, works inside and outside the blues boxes, and creates an entirely new blues experience

"I think music is going to come full circle. People are going to wipe the gloss off everything and hear the roots. I think, hopefully sooner than later, we’re going to get back to an era of home, organic projects where people are more statement oriented on how they feel. It’ll be more natural, tempos will fluctuate, some bad notes will sneak in; you’ll have real sentiments. My fear is that things will go in the other direction and become so computer…

Q&A with veteran Blues Rock musician Dennis Spencer, from the high times to the rocks, from boogie to the blues

"I don’t think the blues will ever die as long as we have people that love it and interpret the boys in their own way."

Dennis Spencer: Bluesman From Jupiter

Dennis Spencer’s life in music has been great…when it wasn’t trying to kill him. When he was 12, his father came home with an accordion and a guitar and told the kids to flip coins. Dennis…

Q&A with roots musician Jeff Shucard (Sweet Papa Lowdown), transcends all borders to a place of heart and harmony

"I’d imagine, all art forms -- be it dance, music, painting, film -- are essential to the health and well-being of a society. Without the promotion and proliferation of the arts we shrivel up -- or go underground. Those repressive regimes that forbid artistic expression are to us in the free world, terrifying. I would first of all hope for a peaceful future, one in which new ‘golden ages” of the arts flourish."…

Q&A with Canadian multi-talented artist Lily Sazz, an impressive career as a side-woman, and member of the Women's Blues Revue Band

Posted on November 19, 2024 at 6:00pm 0 Comments

"The role of a musician, speaking for myself personally, is to create content that makes the world a better place. We all saw how important music was during the pandemic. We take it for granted, but it’s a powerful healing force for many people. I want my songs to connect with others - for my melodies and lyrics to resonate. That’s the best part of what I’m doing, and the most satisfying."

Q&A with Brazilian guitarist Nanda Moura, mesmerizing performer who submerges audiences in the soulful blues sounds

Posted on November 18, 2024 at 11:00am 0 Comments

“Blues is universal! There will always be followers in Brazil, France, Mexico, xxx—wherever you go. Blues is an eternal, universal language. The very essence of blues keeps its followers by regenerating, rebuilding, reinventing itself, and continuing to capture the ears and souls of those who listen. The proof of this is that many musical genres come and go over time, but blues is the root of it all, and it…

"My hopes are that fresh music, and content still resonates vs filtered imaging that is not necessarily authentic. Physical aesthetics are fleeting, talent is the gas for the tank. I think people still want us to transport them."

Kim Doolittle: Canadian Storyteller

Kim Doolittle has been singing since she was a child, all of her life has been…

Q&A with Texas-based Hamilton Loomis - acclaimed guitarist has blues, rock and soul music running through in his veins

Posted on November 15, 2024 at 6:00pm 0 Comments

"First of all, I think that it's important that people realize and understand the struggles and hardships Black Americans were going through when this music was first created, and how it literally influenced all American music to follow. Also, it's important for musicians of my generation to educate the younger generations on this topic, and how important Blues is for our history."
