"Actually, the nature of freedom has long been debated, and I’m not going to solve it here. But I do believe the Beats advanced a more universal notion of freedom, a kind of animating spirit. And that spirit inhabits more than literature—music is also key to its transmission. That spirit has dimmed in our current times. But existence is cyclical, and there is always renewal."

Posted on April 16, 2019 at 12:00am 0 Comments

"The Blues is incredibly great at connecting people of different generations, origins and cultural backgrounds, so it can help to integrate people. All music can do that, but what I keep noticing about the Blues especially is that it touches people no matter if they’re 8 or 80 years old - everybody can relate to it."

Q&A with St. Louis guitarist Tony Campanella - raw talent and experience gained the respect of fellow artists

Posted on March 22, 2019 at 1:30pm 0 Comments

"I feel that Blues can provide us all a means to transcend all of these boundaries. As musicians, we also have the responsibility to honor the history and roots of the music that we hold dear. Through that, we all can have a better understanding, acceptance, and appreciation of our racial and cultural differences. Hopefully that will lead to an elimination of our divisiveness and unite us."

"The racial discrimination and socio-cultural differences go away with the music, and it’s the best part of it in my opinion. It equalizes everything and everyone, and it is extremely important in a world like the one with have today, where both in Europe and the USA old racial and social discrimination is coming back."

Posted on March 4, 2019 at 10:30am 0 Comments

"Music is such a universal form of expression. People have used music to express heavy emotion for ages. Think about the war cries of ancient tribes to create a sense of being connected with one another so they could operate as one. Music can unite us. In church people sing together to worship as one.
